Siri's Overdue Upgrade: Will it Ever Arrive?

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple's internal testing has hit some snags, causing potential setbacks in the release of enhanced Siri features. But here's where it gets controversial—these delays are becoming a recurring theme in Siri's development journey.
Originally, Apple aimed to unveil new Siri capabilities with iOS 26.4 in March. However, the company is now considering a staggered release strategy, spreading features across multiple software updates. This means we might see a few new tricks in iOS 26.5, due in May, but the real deal could be pushed all the way to iOS 27, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a rumored foldable iPhone in September.
The Siri revamp was initially announced at WWDC 2024, but development issues have caused multiple delays. Apple then promised the new Siri for 2026 at WWDC 2025, with March 2026 being the internal target. These ongoing setbacks are leaving users wondering if and when they'll finally get their hands on the improved assistant.
The current challenges include Siri's inconsistent query processing and occasional slow response times. Apple's commitment to quality is commendable, as they prioritize customer satisfaction over rushing an imperfect product to market. But this raises the question: is perfection achievable in AI development, or is it a moving target?
The upcoming features aim to enhance Siri's contextual awareness, allowing it to juggle multiple apps simultaneously.
